At this writing the General Motors project has not commenced and our contractor’s calls for manpower have been
extremely slow, if any. Presently our information has State, Bright, Conti and Comstock as the main contractors at
General Motors.
The Oshawa Courthouse (Plan Electric) has been hiring 1 or 2 at a time and appears to be approaching their peak
numbers.
The Ajax Hospital (OZZ Corporation) is progressing with major renovations and footings etc. for the addition but
calls for more manpower has been slow.
We have not received any more information regarding the Automotive Wind Tunnel at Durham College/UOIT. It has
been reported it will be completed by the fall of 2009 but nothing started at this date. Van Bots will be the General
Contractor.
OPG Pickering and Darlington have not released any information on work.
Please find attached in this mailing the New ICI Labour Rates and a list of the candidates (in alphabetical order) for Election of Officers on June 26, 2008. I would also like to thank the membership for their outstanding and record interest in the election and wish all candidates the very best on June 26, 2008.
