Local 894 retiree Harold “Pat” Dooley celebrated his 100th birthday on Friday, February 23, 2007. Pat was initiated
into the IBEW on August 1, 1959 and now resides at the Bon Aire Residence in Cannington. Business Manager John Gillett and
Assistant Business Manager Bill Robertson attended a birthday celebration for Pat at Durham College/UOIT in recognition
of his tremendous generosity.
Pat was presented with gifts from the IBEW First District Office, IBEW Local 894 and Durham College/UOIT.
Pat always wanted to “help kids get the opportunities that he was not able to have” and continues to be involved in
shaping the lives of students through his long-time support of Durham College and, more recently, his support of the
University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
Brother Pat Dooley is very excited about the new university
in Durham and has pledged a substantial contribution through his estate, while also continuing his generous
support through a matched education fund established for Durham College and UOIT many years ago. Pat looks
and feels great, and we wish him continuing good health and a very Happy 100th Birthday!
