Sunday, February 10, 2008 proved to be another excellent event planned by the Entertainment Committee. In attendance were 98 kids and at least the same amount of members and their spouses. The Local 894 Entertainment Committee provided 173 drinks, 35 pizzas, 588 game tokens, 784 ride tickets and 1.5 hours of bowling for everyone with some families staying for almost 5 hours. On behalf of the membership I wish to thank the Committee members, Adam Graham, Paul Robitaille, Gerry Scratch and Brian Pomeroy, for a well planned event that was very much appreciated and enjoyed by all who attended.

The results of the Health & Welfare vote held on February 28, 2008 are as follows:

The motion to increase the Health & Welfare hourly contributions from $2.16 per hour to $2.66 per hour on
May 1, 2008 was carried. On behalf of the membership I wish to thank the elections judge Roy Halverson and his
assistants Bob Taylor and Gerry Scratch for their excellent administration and management of the vote.
The Trustees are in the process of receiving and reviewing a proposal for benefits from a new provider. When more information becomes available the membership will be notified.
Local 303 St. Catharines is hosting the tournament this year on April 4 & 5, 2008. The location will be the Seymour Hannah Sports Centre at 240 St. Paul St. W., St. Catharines.
On Saturday, February 16, 2008 ten Local 894 members took part this charity “golf in the snow” charity event. Tennis balls and hula hoops were used on the nine hole course at Bowmanville High School. The weather was bright and sunny with several local politicians taking notice of the union members who showed up to play, show their support and taste the several types of chilli provided by local establishments. Thank you to Scott Stainton, Raye West, Jason Tessier, Gerry Scratch, Adam Graham, Paul Robitaille, Randy Gushulak, and Terry Dorgan. I was there also and thoroughly enjoyed the event.
The Pension Trustees are pleased to invite members and their spouses to the Annual Membership Pension Meeting at 6:30 P.M. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the Local 894 Meeting Hall. These meetings are always very informative and there will also be draws for door prizes. The Trustees look forward to seeing everyone.
Nominations and election of the judge to administer the secret ballot vote at the next General Meeting were held at the February General Meeting. Brother Bob Taylor was elected as judge and he has selected Roy Halverson and Tony MacMullin as his assistants.
Ice time has been reserved for hockey practices at the Bowmanville Arena from 9:30 -11:30 P.M. on Sundays for the next four weeks.
Tickets for the Local 894 Harley Davidson draw will be delivered to the union office on Monday, March 3, 2008. Tickets are $100.00 each and only 300 will be sold. The draw will take place at noon on Friday, June 13, 2008 at Local 894 offices.

The following motions were introduced at the February 28, 2008 General Meeting and will be voted on by secret
ballot on the day of the next General Meeting, March 27, 2008. The polls will be open at Local 894 meeting hall
from 1:00 P.M. until the General Meeting begins or longer if the judge deems it necessary. General Meeting begins
at 6:30 P.M.
1. Notice of Motion to increase the hourly RRSP contributions from $6.00 to $7.00 per
hour. ($1.00 increase)
2. Notice of Motion to increase the hourly contributions to the Stabilization Fund from
$0.50 to $1.00 per hour. ($0.50 increase)
3. Notice of Motion to increase the IBEW/EPCO dues from $0.04 per hour to $0.10 per
hour ($0.06 increase) Only applies to EPSCA projects
Note: If a motion is rejected the particular funds mentioned in the motion will be added to the base rate and
vacation pay. Example: If the motion to increase the RRSP contributions from $6.00 to $7.00 is rejected, the
$1.00 is added to the base rate and vacation pay.
Dues check off does not require a vote as it is part of the Local 894 Bylaws and automatic.
