Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Wolf Run Golf Club (same as last year) $71.00 per person. Shotgun start 8:00 a.m. All members and guests welcome. Entry fees must be paid at the office in advance. No charge for Local 894 retirees.
Local 894 has sponsored a foursome. Enter your name at the office for a draw for the four members to be selected at the May General Meeting. Must be an active paid up member to be eligible.
Laptops are available at Local 894 office for a period of three weeks with a deposit of $100.00. Member must also sign a waiver for the safe return of the computer. The training program has been pre-installed on the laptops.
May 15/16, 2010 course is full. Please call Tammy to register for future courses. This course is required for all journeymen and apprentices to work on solar projects. It is estimated that 6000 solar trained installers will be required in Ontario in the next 12 to 24 months. If we want this work to be awarded to IBEW contractors we must be trained and ready.
Aptitude test is scheduled for Wednesday, May 26, 2010. All applicants will be notified. Applications are available and downloadable on our website and may also be picked up at the union office.

Our Local 894 hockey team played exceptionally well and was first class in representing Local 894. It was a great tournament with Sarnia “A” winning the “A” Division, Sarnia “B” winning the “B” Division and Windsor “B” winning the “C” Division. There was a total of 17 Canadian teams and 5 from the U.S. with a total of 39 games played. We thank Local 773 Windsor for hosting the tournament and making everyone feel very welcome.
A Notice of Motion was made at the April General Meeting to provide funding for the expenses to send four female members of Local 894 to the IBEW Women in Trades Conference in Washington, D.C. from July 21-24, 2010. The cost is approximately $6100.00 U.S. This motion will be voted on at the May General Meeting by secret ballot.

Remember to carry your C of Q or your apprenticeship registration with you while at work. The Ministry of Labour is performing random site visits and asking for your documentation. Fines of $350.00 per person and also to the employer have been issued for non compliance.
