The Health & Welfare Trustees will soon announce a Special Called Meeting, regarding the recent, substantial increase in monthly premiums. At that time the Trustees will explain the increase in the cost of our Plan and the amount of increase required for our hourly contributions to keep our existing benefits. What it comes down to, we have two choices: pay the increase or reduce benefits. This process will be by secret ballot vote and must be completed by March 1, 2008 in order to notify the Contractor’s Association & EPSCA to prepare for the May 1st, 2008 raise of $1.25 per hour. When notified of the time and date of the meeting please try to attend.
Reminder: Please exercise your right: Cast your vote in the Provincial Election. Your livelihood and future depends on it. Choose your candidate wisely.
An airline pilot wrote in his log book that on a particular flight he had hammered his ship into the runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the Passengers exited, smile, and give them a “Thanks for flying our airline.” He said that, in light of his bad landing, he had a hard time looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment. Finally everyone had gotten off except a little old lady walking with a cane. She said, “Sir, do you mind if I ask you a question?” “Why, no, Ma’am, said the pilot. “What is it?” The little old lady said, “Did we land, or were we shot down?”
